Kelly Griffin, Crocheter
I design and make delightful, functional crocheted products for the garden and home.
As an avid crocheter and practicing architect, I have spent over 40 years honing my craft. My latest series of crocheted home goods draws inspiration from the built environment, reimagining crochet with a crisp, modern aesthetic that challenges traditional perceptions of this beloved craft. These pieces—baskets, birdhouses, pouches, and pillows—infuse your home with rich, vibrant colors and delightful practicality.
My work is inspired by classic architectural proportions, vernacular housing patterns, and “countershading” color patterns, commonly found in the Northwest, where the lighter undersides of mammals, birds and fish provide camouflage from predators below. These influences inform both the color and pattern choices in my designs. By blending these architectural and natural inspirations, I create pieces that are visually striking and functional.
